I read an article in American Artist Magazine by Jeffrey T. Larson who did a review on Anders Zorn’s art. He said, “Any artist looks at Anders Zorn’s work and sees that he put a note down and left it. He was not timid and he did not try to please anyone but himself.” I love that concept! I want to be an artist who is bold (not timid) and paints to please herself. It is easy to get caught up in the art of making a living and miss out on the art of making art. Today, as I face my canvas I give myself permission to explore boldly and experiment wildly while placing wonderful color “notes” on my canvas. May my finished painting be a symphony of beauty.
